The origin story
The meaning behind Strika.
Strika is short for “strike a pose.”
Strika is a posing app for people who don’t know how to pose. Our mission? Help everyday women feel more confident in front of the camera. Strika’s job is simple: give you live guidance inside the camera to help both the person posing for the photo and the picture taker.
Why the name matters.
There’s a reason why “Strika” begins with “strike.” Bowling is a little bit embarrassing at first, but when you hit a strike it feels amazing. Taking photos is the same. The first few tries can feel awkward and clumsy, but once you nail it, that feeling highlights exactly why you want to capture these memories.
If you’re new to the game, sometimes you need bumpers to keep the shot on track. That’s what our on-screen guides do: they act like bumpers so the pose lands right.
About Strika.
I built Strika after reeling from the highs and lows of two weeks in Turkey. After relishing the colorful streets, otherworldly landscapes, and tile-studded sunsets, the pictures I brought home didn’t match what I saw every day. Even though I was sticky from 85-degree heat, wearing wrinkled clothes stuffed into my suitcase, I still wished I had photos that felt as good as the trip did.
What the trip looked like

…and the photos I came home with

After my big European adventure ended, I went back to reality but I couldn’t shake the thought: why does the act of taking photos feel so broken? This question plagued me for months until I began researching why. After speaking with friends, I realized that I wasn’t alone. So I surveyed a group of random American women to make sure that we weren’t the only ones experiencing this frustration. Here’s what I found:
wanted to improve photos of themselves
ask was guidance on how to pose
As I kept pulling the thread, I realized that most of the top Photo & Video apps on the App Store help edit or share photos after a photo is taken. But no one is focusing on the moment before. So my mission is simple: help everyday women feel more confident in front of the camera. Strika isn’t another filter or editing app. Rather, it’s a tool that gives you the pose, the framing, and the confidence before you hand anyone your phone.

About the founder.
Hi, I’m Natalie. I’m not an engineer, but I built Strika myself using AI development tools in the evenings and weekends outside my full-time job. I started my career as a designer and later joined Adobe as a product marketer, helping scale the Adobe Stock creative marketplace. After years of feeling awkward in front of the camera, I realized how much posing holds people back from capturing memories they actually love. I’m building Strika to help everyone feel confident, authentic, and truly seen in their photos.
Built with AI development tools like Cursor and Claude Code.
